In this newsletter, you will find an overview of all the training and workshops we are offering this month. After a very successful Suicide Awareness Week in October, we are looking forward to the continuous effort of educating our peers on the rhetoric around suicide and the resources available to students who might be struggling.

Resource of the Month

Happy National Veterans and Military Families Month! This November, we would like to highlight the important resources and work that The Office of Veteran & Military Affairs (VMA).
We are incredibly thankful for the service and time that veterans have provided to our country, The VMA Office supports veterans and their families in many civilian and college-related ways. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your service.
Mental Health Organization Shout-Out of the Month

With the school year now being in full swing we would like to highlight a student organization that is making a difference in helping to combat Suicide and destigmatize conversations around seeking mental health support. The University of Alabama’s Chapter of Active Minds UA recently hosted a counselor for a Q&A style tabling event in which students had the opportunity to ask any therapy related questions.
We at STAS are incredibly proud of this effort to destigmatize therapy and wish Active Minds all the best with their future events. Active Minds UA offers weekly Journaling and Meditation opportunities on Monday nights from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Rodger’s Library room 0214A.
